SHARING R&D TOOLS AND SKILLS TO DEVELOP BIOTECH WITHIN EUROPE'S ATLANTIC COAST AREA

OBJECTIVES

•  Reinforce the life science and biotech sectors

• Demonstrate the benefits of cutting-edge technologies to industrial and academic stakeholders

• Facilitate access to R&D infrastructures and skills

• Create a transnational network of technical facilities and technology platforms within the Atlantic coast area

• Make Europe's Atlantic coast area an attractive choice for networking, collaboration and business

KEY ACTIONS

• An action plan for reducing the gap between supply and demand in breakthrough technologies

• A directory of technological core facilities and innovation centres

• High-quality research service provision by technical facilities

• Technology showcase meetings in the partner regions

• A training and mobility plan to help biotech stakeholders acquire skills and knowledge in other European countries
• Organization of three international events promoting networking, the sharing of good practice and better knowledge of technology offerings for R&D projects.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

• A project initiated by Biogenouest and coordinated by Bretagne Développement Innovation and CRITT Santé Bretagne (France)
• A consortium of 10 full partners from Ireland, Spain, Portugal and France, plus associate partners in Scotland
• A 3-year project (2010–2012) with a total budget of €2.7 million
• Co-funded by the European Union's ERDF Atlantic European Project
